PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE
Apprentice to a Mexican Tattoo Artist from the Gulf Coast/East coast of Mexico, working in both Mexico and Canada.
Common apprentice tasks can include, but not limited to:
Making, refining, editing, creating stencils, either from already existing work that is often and commonly highly requested in tattoo shops or working on original artwork by hand or by using Ipad or phone.
Help with preparation and specific setup before a client and then proper safe clean up and disposal after a tattooing session
Using ones learned theoretical knowledge in a practical environment
Assessing inventory when needed
Keeping updated on new or alternative products (Inks, Cartridges etc), regulations, ink/cartridge recalls etc.
Proper disposing of Used Needle Cartridges and any left-over ink at specific drop-off Recycling Centres.
Practice tattooing on a regular basis in a tattoo shop environment, going through every step properly, including pre-tattoo and post-tattoo safety procedures
Tattooing on real client skin while being supervised by Tattoo Mentor
Learning to use Dry Heat machine for sterilization when needed and how to test it’s proper sterility is functioning
